Seller: angusamaclaren (63) 100%, Location: Cirencester, Ships to: GB, US, AU, Item: 302973803191 This car is in reasonable condition and good running order save for two niggles (see below) - it's over 12 years old and has covered 194,325 miles and it's interior and exterior condition reflects this. I am selling as I now have a new car. My aim is to be fully transparent about the Passat's condition. Overall it is running well with no apparent issues, save for two things: 1). About once every 1-2 months (assuming it's being driven daily), the car experiences a partial power loss (it continues to drive but with no acceleration). The quick fix is to stop the car and restart - the problem goes away and you can continue normally. On current form it will then recur some weeks later. Reading around and speaking to others, I believe this problem is related to the MAF sensor, which either requires replacing or cleaning and appears to be an easy fix. However, I may be wrong and it is something else. It did not stop me driving the car and was only a very occasional irritant, but it might get worse as time goes on and will need addressing. Its been like this since January.2). The gearbox seems fine, but it's sometimes a bit sticky going up from second into third. It has not been a problem to drive - you just have to take the pressure off the gearstick if there's resistance going up to 3rd, then push a second time and it glides in. Its been like this for a year or more and has not really bothered me too much. It may get worse of course. Otherwise, the engine runs fine and sounds normal. It does not smoke and it starts first time. The car has no strange noises or clunks. Exterior condition:Overall the paintwork is fine, with some obvious blemishes which I have shown as best I can in the photographs. Notable blemishes are: 1). some bubbling and rusting of paint work on the boot, particularly just below the number plate; 2). some small scratches on the bonnet (not that apparent - you need to look closely); 3). some scuffing on the driver's door and a smaller patch on the driver side passenger door; 4). minor dent on the right top of the boot. There are other small scratches here and there (its an old car!) Interior condition:The carpets are in generally good condition. I always used rubber floor mats front and back, and used a boot protector. Note that I own large dogs who often travelled in the car - mostly in the boot on the boot protector, sometimes in the passenger footwell. Some parts of the interior veneer are showing their age, although the dash and console area is generally good.Small tear in the driver seat (less than 1cm) CleanlinessI have not had the car valeted (not really worth it in my opinion for this age of car), but I have given it a very thorough clean inside and out. The seats are pretty good but not perfect. I have not steam cleaned them as its not always easy to then get them dry. Extras:Tow bar (this was about £400 to buy and have installed)6-CD changer, located in the glove compartmentSatnav driven by a now out-of-date mapping disk, so not really very useful Other things to note:I get an average of 45mpg driving 5-15 miles country into town journeys. On a long journey on bigger roads, this goes up to about 50mpgThe car is currently SORN off roadOne side light bulb needs replacing at a garage - I would have the bulb replaced, but am prevented from driving owing to SORN.The spare tyre loses pressure very, very slowly (a week or more). I keep an electric tyre pump (powered by the cigarette lighter) onboard to get me out of trouble in the event of a tyre change (which is remote).I have all the garage and service receipts since I took ownership. Service stamps prior to that in the service bookThe cam belt was last changed at 140,500 milesLong MOT until 26.07.2019The car has climate control, although owing to age it no longer performs particularly well in very hot weatherCentral locking and electric windows - all fineClean windscreen - no nicksOne key only - no spare. The conditions is fineOne previous owner, but I have owned it for the last 10 years IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL, I WOULD ASK THAT YOU PAY £100 BY PAYPAL WITHIN 3 DAYS, THEN THE REMAINING CASH ON COLLECTION (OR BANK TRANSFER). A CHEQUE FOR THE FULL AMOUNT IS ALSO FINE (AGAIN PLEASE SEND WITHIN 3 DAYS) - PLEASE COLLECT THE CAR WITHIN 5 DAYS OF THE AUCTION ENDING. I WILL OTHERWISE RELIST. THANK YOU.
